"I've been open for 16 years here and I've never been in front of the Joliet liquor commission because I run a tight business," Reid said. "There's no fights in here."

Patch previously reported that the incident occurred at Double J, which is located at 1001 Essington Road in Joliet, based on statements from Hug and Joliet Police Deputy Chief Al Roechner who both said it had. Reid said he was out of town at the time of the incident and did not receive the message from Patch requesting comment until after he returned.

Reid said he does not want his bar to be portrayed as one that has college-age bar fights. Hug, who is 52, has said he was involved in an incident that caused him to call the police and file, but declined to comment further about what happened or what initiated it.
