Passerby Saved Woman After Her Boyfriend Stabbed Her Twice Outside Walmart: Cops

The boyfriend stabbed her in the thigh and the arm as he had her pinned down in the parking lot, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A passerby saved a woman whose boyfriend stabbed her twice and pinned her to the ground outside Walmart, police said.

Two workers from the West Jefferson Walmart reportedly told police they were taking a smoke break about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday when they saw a man armed with a knife on top of a woman in the parking lot.

A second man came along, pulled the man with the knife off the woman and held him down until the cops arrived, police said.

When they did, the officers arrested the boyfriend, 37-year-old Kevin Tuntland. Tuntland was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Tuntland stabbed his girlfriend in the thigh and arm, police said.

The girlfriend was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
