Pedestrian, 37, Hit By Pickup Truck On West Jefferson: JPD

The roadway was closed for several hours as traffic crash investigators reconstructed the scene.

JOLIET — On Sunday night, after it was dark, a 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries after bring struck by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on West Jefferson Street.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events unfolded on Sunday evening in the 2100 block of West Jefferson:

At 5:46 p.m., the officers responded to the crash involving a pedestrian.

A Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 35-year-old Joliet man was westbound on West Jefferson Street from Hammes Avenue in the curb lane. It is believed a male pedestrian, 37, of Joliet, was crossing the street in the 2100 block of West Jefferson Street from the south and was struck by the Chevrolet. The driver of the Chevrolet stopped and tried to render aid to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was taken to St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured.
