CREST HILL, IL — The Crest Hill Police Department revealed that a hit-and-run Jeep Grand Cherokee was responsible for Saturday's horrific crash on Plainfield Road that killed two pedestrians, a 68-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, both of Plainfield. The husband and wife were patrons of the nearby Gustos Bar & Grill, which is located nearby on Route 30.

The Illinois State Police assisted the investigation and Crest Hill Police are investigating and reviewing nearby business surveillance video, canvassing the area, and sorting through crash debris to piece together any information to identify the vehicle involved in the incident.
Investigators developed the suspect vehicle using crash debris found at the scene, saying it is a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee. Residents are asked to be on the lookout for the vehicle, which will be missing at least four silver rectangular grill pieces and at least one fog light.
"The flyer is not the actual vehicle only an example," Clark stressed.
Meanwhile, Will County Coroner Laurie H. Summers released the names of the two people who died late Saturday night in Crest Hill along the busy four-lane stretch of Plainfield Road.
The fatality victims were Laurie K. Cooper, age 53, of Plainfield, and Danny L. Cooper a 68-year-old Plainfield man. Both were found dead at 11:55 p.m., in the 2100 block of Plainfield Road, the result of a motor vehicle and pedestrian collision, Summers noted.
