Place Garbage And Recycling Carts On Parkways, Not In Streets
Prior to new garbage and recycling changes starting in 2018, Joliet officials are offering a few helpful reminders this week.

JOLIET, IL -- Officials are reminding residents this week to place their garbage and recycling carts in the parkway — not in the street — and to avoid parking any vehicles in front of them.
Placing garbage and related refuse carts in the streets presents a hazard for snow plows, emergency vehicles and other traffic, they said.
"This is especially important when the city has a snow event," a community notice said. "If the carts are placed on the roadway, the snowplows may hit them."

Once the carts are empty, residents are asked to place them in their garages, backyards, or on the sides of their homes. All carts must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on residents' assigned pickup days in order to be collected.
