Joliet Stabbing Attacker Drops Knife As Joliet Police Draw Guns, 2 Victims Hospitalized: Prosecutors
A 21-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds to his back, shoulder and hand, Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English told Joliet Patch.

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old man from the Plainfield area will be kept in the Will County Jail for an indefinite time frame after he tried to stab two people inside their kitchen for no apparent reason, Joliet police alleged. Isaac Prost was arrested at his family's home earlier this week, and he's now being detained on two crimes of aggravated domestic battery, one crime of domestic battery and one aggravated battery.
According to prosecutors, the 21-year-old victim arrived home in the 4300 block of Carrington Lane around 8 p.m. Monday and went into the kitchen. He tried to speak with Prost and "the conversation was limited, as is typical, and (the victim) was then watching something on his phone at the kitchen table. (He) heard the kitchen drawer open and then felt sharp painin his back in several areas. He fell off his chair onto the ground. Isaac then got on top of him and attempted to stab him in the face with the knife.
"The knife cut his bottom lip," prosecutors told Will County Judge Derek Ewanic.

Prosecutors say the victim screamed as his mother entered the room; that's when Isaac Prost turned toward her. He pushed her, and she fell on the 21-year-old stabbing victim, and they tried to fight Isaac using a table as the barrier, court documents allege.
Two other men inside the home entered the room and tried to help he mother and her adult son, and when Joliet police showed up with their guns out, "Isaac set the knife down," prosecutors said. The 21-year-old stabbing victim told Joliet police "he and Isaac did not have any issues with each other leading up to this," court documents show.

The 21-year-old victim suffered multiple stab wounds to his back, including a 4-to-5-inch-long laceration to his left shoulder area, and "may need surgery to repair injured muscle as a result of this occurrence," Will County prosecutors said.
The criminal complaint indicates Prost also tried to strangle a male relative and used the knife to stab his victim about the body. He also pushed a table into a female family member, the charges also allege.
"A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was attacked without provocation ... Prost, who was armed with a kitchen knife," Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said. "There is no confirmed motive for the attack at this time."
Prost sustained a minor injury during his attack, English noted. The stabbing victim and another person who was attacked by Prost were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with non-life-threatening injuries, English noted.
Court documents indicate that Joliet police interviewed Isaac Prost at St. Joe's hospital, where he was being treated for a laceration to the top of his left hand. "Upon questioning, he kept asking what happened and looking to the right at nothing in particular," prosecutors advised Judge Ewanic.
A folding knife used as the weapon was found on the kitchen table and "the victims expressed a belief that the defendant ordered some unknown drugs in the mail and may have received them on the date of this event but no drugs were recovered during a consensual search of the residence or by the victims," prosecutors said.
Upon his release from the hospital, Prost was taken to the Joliet Police Department for processing and then to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Judge Ewanic has ordered Prost to stay in the jail under the SAFE-T-Act.
