Plainfield Man Faces Homicide Case in Pennsylvania For Shaking, Throwing Baby Almost 25 Years Ago

The Will County Sheriff's Department captured the man and he was sent back to Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

JOLIET, IL — A Plainfield man facing a homicide charge in Pennsylvania was captured by the Will County Sheriff’s Department.

Christopher Barber, 46, was arrested and booked into the Will County jail last week. He waived extradition and was taken from the jail in Joliet for a trip to Pennsylvania Tuesday.

Barber had already served prison time for shaking and throwing his 2-month-old son, and leaving the infant in a “vegetative state,” according to Pennsylvania news station WNEP.

Barber’s son died last year at the age of 23, WNEP reported, and Barber was charged with criminal homicide.

Barber was living on South Oakdale Circle when he was arrested, according to jail records.
