Portion Of Joliet Street To Close Until April Due to Water Main Work
The section of Joliet Street between Jackson and Cass will close Tuesday and will remain closed until April 1 as water mains are installed.

JOLIET, IL —Local drivers who rely on Joliet Street to get to where they need to will need to make alternate plans beginning Tuesday when a full street closure goes into effect as a city water main project continues.
Water main installation work that is part of the Ottawa Street Water Main Installation Project continues to progress, city officials said. The next phase of the work will force the city to close a portion of Joliet Street between Jackson and Cass streets beginning on Tuesday.
The project requires significant traffic control to be installed for the duration of the project, city officials said. A full road closure beginning on Tuesday will force the portion of Joliet Street between Jackson and Cass to be closed to through traffic. It Is anticipated that this phase of work will be completed, and this section of Joliet Street reopened by April 1.

Drivers should be prepared for long delays and follow posted detours. Drivers are also reminded to slow down and use extreme caution when driving around or through work zones. Obey the posted speed limit and signage and watch for workers or flaggers. For the safety of workers, drivers are asked not to use their cell phones or text while driving.
