Pregnant Woman Breaks Free From Choking On Center Street, Almost Jumps Out Window: JPD
Officers located Nicholas Brown near Plainfield Road and Taylor Street a short time later and placed him into custody without incident.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that officers made an arrest of a 30-year-old man this week in connection with allegations of serious domestic violence. The agency booked Nicholas Brown into the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery to a pregnant person, unlawful restraint and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
The incident happened Tuesday night.
According to police official Dwayne English, at 7:38 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 400 block of North Center Street for a domestic disturbance. Brown had allegedly choked his pregnant 28-year-old woman during an argument, police said.

The victim broke free of Brown and attempted to call 911, but Brown took her phone away from her to prevent the 911 call, the arrest report alleged.
Brown then blocked the doorway to prevent the victim from leaving, according to police. The victim attempted to jump out of the window, but police say Brown pulled her back into the apartment and again choked her.

The victim fled to a neighbor’s home to call 911 and Brown then left the area.
English said the officers later captured Brown near Plainfield Road and Taylor Street a short time later and placed him into custody without incident. The victim was evaluated by paramedics at the scene.
