Reckless Driver On Collins Street Faces DUI Charges, 'He Had 3 Beers': Joliet Police Told
The results indicated Lenin Canales-Zelaya had a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit of 0.08, Joliet police advised.

JOLIET, IL — A 33-year-old citizen of Joliet now finds himself dealing with Will County's criminal justice system after Joliet police arrested Lenin Canales-Zelaya last week on charges including reckless driving, improper lane usage, DUI, possession of open alcohol and DUI with a Blood Alcohol Concentration exceeding the legal limit.
Joliet police spokesman Tizoc Landeros said that on June 19, at about 10 p.m., Joliet officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Collins Street for a domestic disturbance.
But before the officers arrived at the house, they spotted a gray Toyota Corolla traveling southbound on the 800 block of Collins Street. The Toyota entered a parking lot located in the 700 block of Collins Street, so the officers followed the vehicle into the parking lot and stopped the Toyota.

The officers discovered that this driver, Lenin Canales-Zelaya was involved in the domestic dispute that prompted their response prior to the traffic stop.
When asked if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages, he stated that he had three beers, Landeros noted. Canales-Zelaya was transported to the Joliet Police booking area, where he was asked to take a breathalyzer test. The results indicated that Canales-Zelaya had a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit of 0.08, Landeros noted.

Canales-Zelaya was processed and released on a Notice to Appear. His Toyota Corolla was towed from the scene.
