Rifle Pointed At Joliet Neighbors, Pit Bull Escapes, Bites Joliet Cop: JPD
Jorge Medina was seen outside of his home holding a rifle and allegedly pointing it at others in the neighborhood, Joliet police say.

JOLIET, IL — A 50-year-old Joliet man, Jorge Medina, was taken away by the Joliet police in handcuffs on Monday morning in connection with a rifle incident in Medina's neighborhood. His dog also reportedly bit an officer, police said.
Joliet police said Medina was arrested and brought to the Will County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, three counts of disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer.
According to police agency spokesman Dwayne English, at 9:21 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Norton Avenue after a resident, later identified as Medina, was seen outside his home holding a rifle and allegedly pointing it at others in the neighborhood.

While the officers tried to speak with Medina, he initially picked up a shovel and ignored commands before dropping the shovel and fleeing toward his backyard, English said.
Officers quickly caught up to Medina and placed him into custody. However, during the arrest, English said Medina’s dog, a pit bull, escaped from the fenced yard and bit an officer, requiring medical treatment at a local hospital.

Officers recovered the rifle from Medina’s home, which was determined to be a muzzle-loader type weapon, English said.
