Robbery Case Cracked After Crook Caught Hanging Out On His Porch, Up Street From Crime Scene: Cops
He choked and robbed a woman who knew him on his own street, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Joliet man choked and robbed a woman who knows who he is on the street where he lives, police said.
Michael McCarty, 27, was captured on the porch of his Marquette Road house, where he was hanging out about 11 p.m. Friday, police said.
McCarty allegedly robbed the 27-year-old woman down the street from his house.

The woman had been driving around her boyfriend, another woman, McCarty and a third man Friday night, police said. The woman has reportedly known the third man since elementary school.
While they were on McCarty’s street, he allegedly choked the woman and snatched her purse. The third man hit the boyfriend in the head and stole a gift card from him, police said. He and McCarty then reportedly took off running.

The gift card thief remains at large. When McCarty was arrested on his porch, he was holding brass knuckles.
McCarty was taken to the Will County jail.
