JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department issued a Friday morning press release revealing that 27-year-old Joliet citizen Devion Smith is now in Will County's Jail in connection with last weekend's overnight armed robbery of the Circle K gas station on Route 59 between Shorewood and Plainfield.

Smith is charged with armed robbery, according to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English. Joliet police say he entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the store clerk.

The armed robbery happened at 2422 Route 59 during the early morning hours of Sept. 13, and Smith was questioned by Joliet police detectives later that same morning, following his arrest for a similar armed robbery in Morris, but he invoked his right to an attorney, English noted. Police in New Lenox were also investigating Smith in connection with an armed robbery at a Domino's Pizza.
