Russo's Italian Deli Opening Just Days Away

CREST HILL, IL — There are a lot of restaurants on the drive along Plainfield Road, but not a ton of Italian style delis. Within the next week, people who have a craving for Italian style sandwiches will have a new option. Russo's Authentic Italian Deli and Cafe announced it will open Monday, Nov. 30.

Russo's is replacing the Tacos Giselle restaurant at 2424 Plainfield Road in Crest Hill.

At a time when many restaurants are closing or struggling to remain profitable amid the coronavirus pandemic, a local family has decided to open a new restaurant that aims to attract customers from Plainfield, Joliet, Romeoville, Crest Hill, Shorewood and elsewhere.

"We will hold off on calling it a Grand Opening until we can properly invite you all inside to fully enjoy our full Italian experience," owner Sara Russo posted on Facebook. "In the meantime, we are able to do curbside pickup, DoorDash orders and limited in-house delivery.

"Can't wait to feed you guys some amazing food," she commented.

During an October interview with Joliet Patch, Russo said her new restaurant on Plainfield Road will also offer some authentic Italian groceries including cookies and canned tomato pastas.

In addition, Russo's will be making homemade fresh mozzarella that customers can buy.
