School District Flack Won't Talk About Teacher Who Allegedly Peed on Security Guard

The Valley View School District Spokesman wasn't doing much speaking.

The Valley View School District spokesman refused to answer questions about a teacher charged with peeing on a casino security guard’s foot.

Larry Randa, the district spokesman, confirmed he had read the Patch story about Jennifer L. Romero’s alleged escapades at Hollywood Casino and said, “I don’t have anything to add to it.”

“I don’t have any additional info for you,” Randa said in a second email.

Randa failed to explain why he would not answer questions about Romero, who a source said is a teacher at Romeoville High School.

Romeoville High School lists a teacher named Jennifer L. Romero among its faculty. Romero did not respond to an email sent to her school account. Calls to Romero’s Plainfield home were not answered.

Romero identifies herself as a special education and English teacher on her Facebook page.

Romero, 47, was a nuisance to other casino patrons and security asked her to leave about 4 a.m. Tuesday, police said. She allegedly responded by poking a guard in the chest and refusing to walk out, then flung herself to the floor — knocking down a guard — and started screaming.

Romero refused to stand and security called for a wheelchair, police said. She reportedly would not get into the wheelchair so the guards picked her up and placed her into it.

Romero stuck out her legs so the guards could not roll her away, police said. Security then reportedly carried her to a casino holding cell.

As a guard was setting Romero on the floor of the cell, she peed on his foot, police said. Security then called the cops and Romero was arrested.

Romero was charged with battery, trespassing and disorderly conduct. She was released on her own recognizance.
