Semi Truck Too Tall For Joliet Bridge

Photos of the stuck semi show the trailer buckled under the bridge, which was too low for the truck.

JOLIET, IL — A semi truck got itself stuck under a Joliet bridge that was too low for it to clear Wednesday. Photos obtained by Patch show the trailer buckled under a bridge on Brandon Road.

Gary Beck Jr. told Patch he was driving up Brandon Road to get to Route 6 after work on Wednesday when, between 3:30 and 4 p.m., he noticed the stuck truck. "It must have just happened because traffic wasn't backed up that far yet," he told Patch.

The semi hit the overpass above Brandon Road just south of the Des Plaines River. The overpass has a height of 12'1", whereas most trucks are considerably taller.
