Sex Offender Caught On School Bus With Easter Seals Kids: Cops

JOLIET, IL — A sex offender was jailed for allegedly riding with children on a school bus chartered by Easter Seals, according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court.

Registered sex offender Matthew Haberkorn, 25, was arrested Saturday. His bond had been previously set at $25,000.

Haberkorn, a Morris resident, was on the school bus with the children back in November, the complaint said. The bus was “in the vicinity” of the Walmart on West Jefferson Street in Joliet.

Haberkorn was was convicted in Grundy County of the criminal sexual abuse of a 13-year-old, according to county and state records. He committed the offense when he was 17.

Haberkorn was taken into custody by the Channahon police.
