Sex Video Lands Jail Guard in Jail: Cops

A Will County Correctional Officer was locked up in the jail where he worked.

JOLIET, IL — A Will County correctional officer was locked up Friday in the jail where he worked on charges he sent his ex-girlfriend an unwanted sex video.

Harold Cobo, 47, was booked into custody on two counts of harassment through electronic communication.

In March, Cobo sent a woman a video “depicting a male with his erect penis exposed and a female with her breasts exposed in which she places her mouth on the exposed erect penis of the male,” according to a criminal complaint filed in Will County court. Cobo, a Joliet resident, also allegedly sent the woman an image that said, “I am ashamed of my behavior. Let’s be clear. I’m not. But I should be.”

Also in March, the same woman sought — but was not granted — a protective order against Cobo. In her petition, the 45-year-old woman from Lombard claimed Cobo “keeps sending me explicit videos and pictures” and also sent her a text saying, “Ever look at someone and think this motherf----r is going to be the reason I loose (sic) my job.”

On another occasion, the woman said, Cobo sent her “nude and inappropriate photos of myself and of him,” and that, when they lived together, he made her “take a pill cocktail” to help her sleep.

The woman identified herself in the petition as Cobo’s girlfriend but said she has “broken up with (him) numerous times” during their relationship.

Jail Warden Dale Santerelli said Cobo was suspended without pay on Friday.

“There was a warrant signed by a judge this morning,” said Santerelli, who noted that the sheriff’s department’s internal affairs division has investigated the matter.

Cobo was freed on his own recognizance after less than 45 minutes in custody, according to jail records.
