Sexual Predator Surrenders, Jailed For Allegedly Entering School

The sexual predator was working as a contractor when he went to Taft School in Lockport, the board president said.

A sexual predator wanted for allegedly entering Taft School in Lockport surrendered and was locked up Monday morning.

Aldo Guerra, 32, voluntarily gave himself up and was arrested, according to court records. He was booked into the Will County jail.

Guerra was working as a contractor when he went to Taft school on Feb. 23, said board President Tony Peloso.

At the security vestibule, Guerra provided his ID to a secretary, Peloso said. The secretary ran the ID, he said, it “came up as a red flag” and Superintendent D.J. Skogsberg was notified.

Skogsberg told Guerra, “You have to leave and leave the school grounds,” Peloso said, and after he was gone, the school’s resource officer was told of the incident.

School staff was unaware the police had built a case against Guerra, Peloso said last week.

“The school had no idea of any further action,” he said.

Guerra was living in Joliet when he was charged with the aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 14-year-old in April 2004. He was sentenced to 30 months of probation.

Guerra is listed as a sexual predator on the state police sex offender registry.

The warrant for Guerra’s arrest carries a $5,000 bond. On Monday, his attorney filed a motion to reduce it.
