Shoe-Stealing Fugitive Captured By Will County Cops: Police

Will County deputies reportedly captured a shoe-stealing fugitive who is wanted in Indiana, police said.

Ryan Alton, 24, was booked into the Will County jail Friday evening. The former Joliet resident, who now lives in Montgomery, according to jail records, is awaiting extradition to Porter County, Indiana.

Alton was arrested in Porter County more than a year ago after he rear-ended a car while fleeing the police, according to a story in the Times of Northwest Indiana.

Alton and his passenger ditched the car and took off running, the story said, and along the way “Alton allegedly went into a garage where he stole a pair of shoes to replace the ones he had lost in his attempt to flee. He was found later in a shed located at another residence.”
