CREST HILL — Already this school year, students have ended up in serious trouble with the law for making threats of school shootings in Joliet, Minooka and Plainfield. The latest incident happened Wednesday in Crest Hill at the Chaney Monge School.
According to the Crest Hill Police Department statement posted on Facebook, at 3:30 p.m., Crest Hill police were notified by Chaney Monge School officials that a 10-year-old student made a threat during class to "shoot up the school." Several other students heard the threat and reported it to the school staff.
The juvenile's parents were cooperative and allowed Crest Hill's officers to search the home. Crest Hill Police verified that the weapons in the home were stored safely and locked away, police said.
