3 Hospitalized In Slingshot Crash In Joliet, Driver Cited: English

Leroy McAfee, 44, was southbound on McKinley Street when his Slingshot lost control and collided head on into a Nissan, Joliet police noted.

JOLIET, — A 44-year-old Polaris Slingshot driver crashed into a Nissan Altima this weekend, leaving himself and two other people hospitalized with serious injuries, Joliet police announced.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 5:37 p.m. on Friday, Joliet police responded to the 1500 block of McKinley Street for a crash with injuries.

A Polaris Slingshot driven by 44-year-old Joliet resident Leroy McAfee was going south on McKinley Street. McAfee's Slingshot lost control and collided head on into a Nissan Altima, driven by a 28-year-old Joliet woman, headed northbound on McKinley Street.

The driver and a passenger of the Polaris as well as the driver of the Nissan were taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center in stable condition with serious injuries.

All injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. MacAfee was cited for suspended registration for non-insurance, English advised.
