The Joliet man was doing more than 100 mph when he blew by a cop, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Joliet man blew by a radar gun at more than 100 mph, then got stuck in the mud while he was trying to outrun the cops, police said.

Raymond Martinez, 22, allegedly shot by a cop near the corner of Cedar Road and Lenox Street about 9 a.m. Friday.

“When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle it attempted to elude the officer,” police said.

“The vehicle eventually got stuck in the mud after it left the roadway in an attempt to maneuver around the officer’s squad car.”

Martinez was arrested. He was released from custody after he posted bond.
