Steelman Fish Their Way to Second Place

Joliet Central High School students finished second in Bass Fisherman Invitational.

Joliet Central High School students Sean Cook and Tommy Zobel took home second place in the 7th Annual Argenta Oreana Bombers Invitational Bass Fishing Tournament at Clinton Lake in Clinton on April 3.

Eighty-four teams competed at the event, each team consisting of two student anglers and a boat captain.

Cook and Zobel, who were led by Boat Captain Tony Cook, weighed in six bass for a total weight of 16 pounds 2 ounces, just 14 ounces away from first place.

The students were awarded two Lew’s rod and reel combos and various tackle from FLW Outdoors, Jewel Bait Company, Big Bite Baits and Lucas Oil Products.

“I can’t say enough about Sean and Tommy and their dedication to attaining the high expectations they have set for themselves,” said Terry Piazza, Joliet Central bass fishing coach. “In addition, the work of Tony Cook and Tom Zobel to prepare them for each event has been invaluable to their success.”
