The parent saw the swastika during a meeting at the school and took a picture of it.

JOLIET, IL — A parent found a swastika scratched into a music stand at Joliet West High School.
The parent, Dave Wilson, was at West Thursday evening for a meeting about an upcoming school function in which his child is participating.
Wilson was troubled to see the symbol of hate at the school.

“I think the current cultural climate is resurrecting some nasty old prejudices, and as a parent, I find it very alarming that the ultimate symbol of hatred is being carved into our local schools,” Wilson said. “Intolerance and all the brutal imagery it carries with it needs to be stopped.”
Joliet West Principal Teresa Gibson failed to respond to a call and an email for comment. Three contacts listed by high school spokeswoman Kristine Schlismann, who was unavailable, also failed to respond to emails requesting comment on the swastika.
