Tezak's Funeral Home Property: Is It Priced To Sell Fast?
Perhaps the former Tezak's Funeral Home in downtown Joliet could also be redeveloped into a Route 66 destination stop for world travelers.

JOLIET, IL — One of downtown Joliet's most notable properties, 459 N. Ottawa St., the former location of Tezak Funeral Home for many decades, is now up for sale. The real estate listing appeared recently on the website, LoopNet. How much is the asking price? The listed price is $799,000.
The property, classified as a "retail building," is on the northern end of downtown Joliet, across the street from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church that Bishop Ron Hicks is trying to downgrade into a secondary parish. The former Tezak Funeral Home is adjacent to the world's first Dairy Queen restaurant. Last fall, the Joliet Area Historical Museum acquired the former Dairy Queen, along North Chicago Street, to bring it back to life as a historic Route 66 tourist attraction.
Perhaps the former Tezak's Funeral Home could also be redeveloped into a Route 66 destination stop for world travelers? Then again, George Frigelis of Properties Commercial indicated on LoopNet that the old Tezak Funeral Home is "perfect for banquet hall, church, warehouse."

He also explained that the property is a "currently operational church with full kitchen and banquet areas." There is also a large parking lot in the rear of the property facing the Des Plaines River plus there are two additional apartments on the second floor that are being rented to provide for additional income to the property owner.
The brick building was built in 1971 and encompasses 12,000 square feet. For more information, visit the LoopNet listing for the Tezak Funeral Home.
