JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old homeless man in Joliet has been arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and child endangerment following Wednesday night's incident with a toy gun on Plainfield Road, the Joliet police arrest reports show.

Although the two criminal charges for William Douglas were not non-detainable crimes, Douglas wound up in the Will County Jail anyway because he had an outstanding Will County arrest warrant.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 9:07 p.m., the officers responded to a house in the 800 block of Plainfield Road for a man holding a gun while also holding a young child.

Officers later determined the handgun was a toy modeled to appear to be a real gun.

It is alleged that Douglas possessed the toy gun and pointed it at the boyfriend of his child’s mother during an argument while the child was present, English indicated.

Douglas was placed into custody without incident. Douglas was also active wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court on previous traffic charges.

The child remained in the care of her mother, the Joliet police advised.
