Traveling To Meet A Minor Arrest Made By Joliet Police: English

JOLIET — The Joliet Police Department issued a press release announcing that 35-year-old Ruby Street resident Nathaniel Garbin was taken to the Will County Jail on Monday facing charges of traveling to a meet a child, indecent solicitation of a child and the crime of grooming.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, following an investigation by the Joliet Police Department Narcotics Unit, Garbin was identified as a suspect engaging in improper communication with whom he believed to be a 16-year-old girl.

During the past two weeks, Garbin had conversations of a sexual nature with a Joliet Police Department undercover officer who posed as a 16-year-old girl on social media applications, English said. During numerous conversations using two different applications, police said, Garbin acknowledged the age of the minor and solicited her for various sexual acts.

Then, on Monday afternoon, Garbin arranged to meet the supposed teenage girl in the 3300 block of Stonehurst Court, and traveled there to engage in sexual activity with whom he believed to be a 16-year-old girl, according to police.

Garbin arrived in a Ford Focus at which time uniformed Joliet police officers conducted a traffic stop and placed him into custody without incident. Garbin’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

According to the Will County Jail, Garbin was booked into his new cell at 4:48 p.m.
