Update: Coroner Confirms IDs of Body Shop Owner's Slain Son and Girlfriend
The son worked at the Cass Street body shop, a source said.
Patch previously reported that sources said Michael Oram, 48, and his girlfriend were discovered dead at Fleet Specialty Painting on Cass near Bissel Street about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, sources said.
Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil’s office confirmed Oram and Lockport resident Jamie Wills, 43, were killed.
Joliet Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner said detectives were unsure how Oram and Wills died.
“There’s signs of trauma, that’s all we know,” Roechner said.
Autopsies were scheduled for Thursday morning.
A long-time Fleet Specialty Painting customer, John Lepacek, said the shop opened every day at 10 a.m. “faithfully.”
“Their prices were good,” Lepacek said. “They did good work.”
Oram reportedly worked at his father’s shop.
A man working across the street from Fleet Specialty Painting at Kronos Tire Shop said the business operated all night.
“The guy worked every night. All day he closed the shop,” said the man, who declined to give his name.
“All day it’s closed,” he said of Fleet Specialty Painting. “At night you see the lights on.”
The man also said police took away surveillance video from Kronos Tire Shop.
A neighbor who declined to give her name exclaimed, “Oh my God!” when she learned of the two bodies in the shop nearby.
