The five teens were riding in a 2000 Subaru Impreza that was reported stolen about 6 a.m. Wednesday, police said. The owner of the stolen car went looking for his vehicle, spotted it near the corner of Cass and Collins street and started following it.

He called the law and met with officers near the corner of Benton Street and Parks Avenue. While the owner was speaking with the officers, the stolen car passed by, police said.

During the ensuing pursuit, the 14-year-old jumped out of the vehicle and the Impreza crashed into the Grand Prix stopped at the light about 2 p.m., police said.

The driver of the Grand Prix was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
