Update: Joliet Man Slain on the Hill was Shot in Head

A Joliet man slain on the Hill Saturday night was shot in the head while standing on Fairmont Avenue with another man.

Russell Mitchell, 22, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox where he was pronounced dead shortly before 8 p.m.

Will County deputies were sent to Fairmont about a half hour earlier and found Mitchell shot down in the street, police said.

The man who was with Mitchell emerged from the gun attack unscathed. Mitchell was shot just the one time in the head.

The killer remains at large.
