Update: School Board Prez Says Sexual Predator Never Made It Past Security Vestibule

LOCKPORT, IL — A sexual predator charged with entering Taft school in Lockport never made it past the security vestibule and was turned away after a secretary checked his identification, the school board president said.

Aldo Guerra, 32, was working as a contractor when he went to Taft school on Feb. 23, said board President Tony Peloso.

At the security vestibule, Guerra provided his ID to a secretary, Peloso said. The secretary ran the ID, he said, it “came up as a red flag” and Superintendent D.J. Skogsberg was notified.

Skogsberg told Guerra, “You have to leave and leave the school grounds,” Peloso said, and after he was gone, the school’s resource officer was told of the incident.

School staff was unaware the police had built a case against Guerra, Peloso said.

“The school had no idea of any further action,” he said.

Guerra now has a felony warrant out for his arrest.

Guerra was living in Joliet when he was charged with the aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a 14-year-old in April 2004. He was sentenced to 30 months of probation.

Guerra is listed as a sexual predator on the state police sex offender registry.
