Vasectomy Left Shorewood Man Gangrenous: Lawsuit

After the vasectomy, the Shorewood man was subjected to "surgical debridement of his scrotum and penis," the lawsuit said.

JOLIET, IL — A Shorewood man was stricken with gangrene, sepsis and scrotal cellulitis after he got a vasectomy, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

The 39-year-old man is suing Advanced Urology Associates, Dr. Constance Marks and Tammie Henderson, a nurse.

In May 2015, Marks performed a vasectomy on the man, the lawsuit said. Two days later, “he began to feel groin pain and fever,” the suit said, and he alerted Advanced Urology, Marks and Henderson.

Three days after that, he complained “of testicular swelling, a fever, and serosanguinous drainage, for which (he) was prescribed pain medication and sent home,” the suit said.

The following day, he was “admitted to Morris Hospital and was diagnosed with sepsis, scrotal cellulitis and Fournier gangrene, which resulted in the surgical debridement of his scrotum and penis,” the lawsuit said.
