Watch: Wanted Man Captured After Leaving Courthouse
He was already in his car when he was surrounded by deputies.

JOLIET, IL — A wanted man tried to slip out of the courthouse and make his getaway when he realized the law knew he had warrants, police said, but was captured by deputies in the parking lot and taken to jail.
Cassius James Andrew Anderson, 24, knew he had warrants out for his arrest when he went to court Tuesday for a driving while license suspended case, police said. The warrants were for failing to appear in court last month for a different driving while license suspended case and for a charge of operating an uninsured motor vehicle. The warrants for his arrest each carry a $5,000 bond.
Courthouse personnel learned Anderson was wanted and notified the sheriff’s department, police said, but before deputies could get to the courtroom, Anderson realized he was going to be arrested and took off with his girlfriend and a child.

Anderson, a South Holland resident, made it into his car but Deputies running after him surrounded the vehicle before he could drive away.

The sheriff’s department reported that Anderson’s girlfriend was “yelling and screaming,” and that Anderson had to be persuaded to get out of the car so he could be taken to the Will County jail.
