The Lockport man used a wire for stabbing and a stick for striking, police said.

Guillermo Perez, 35, first pulled out his wire and tried to stab man while attempting to rob him on Washington Street near Akin Avenue about 10:30 p.m., police said.
When the 25-year-old jumped into his car, Perez allegedly reached into the vehicle with his wire and tried again to cut him.
The 25-year-old’s 35-year-old brother-in-law reportedly heard the commotion in the street and jumped in to help. The two brothers-in-law then chased Perez to the corner of Washington and Arizona Avenue. There, Perez grabbed a stick and pummeled the men about their faces and bodies, police said.
The beaten brothers-in-law were ultimately able to subdue Perez and hold him until the law arrived, police said. Perez was arrested and taken to the Will County jail.
