Woman, 79, Shoved To Ground, Threatened With Death: Joliet Police

Joliet police went to a house in the 1500 block of North Prairie Avenue for a domestic disturbance involving Matthew Farwell, age 45.

JOLIET, IL — A 45-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say Matthew Farwell attacked a 79-year-old woman inside a home in the middle of the night. Farwell was taken away in handcuffs and booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated battery as well as domestic battery.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the incident happened this way:

At 2:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were sent to a house in the 1500 block of North Prairie Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that Farwell had attacked the 79-year-old woman.

"It is believed that while at the residence, an intoxicated Farwell grew irate and began damaging items within the home. Farwell then got into the victim’s face and struck her in the shoulder, causing her to lose balance," English announced.

Farwell then threatened to kill the victim, according to police reports.

The victim was not injured during the episode.

Farwell was on the scene and was placed into custody without incident, his arrest report noted.
