JOLIET — After spending Monday and Tuesday lodged inside Will County's Jail, 50-year-old Joliet resident Otibio Jones has been released from custody following this week's Joliet police arrest on charges of aggravated domestic battery and interfering with a report of domestic violence.

While some people in the neighborhood were waking up, Joliet police were called around 6:40 a.m. on Monday to Jones' house in the 800 block of Vine Street, the city's near west side.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of Vine Street for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival at the scene of the crime, officers learned that during an argument with a woman, Jones choked her while in the bathroom. Jones then followed the victim out of the residence and grabbed her arm and then threw the victim’s phone and would not let the victim access the phone, according to English.
