Woman Attacked Near Glenwood Avenue, Sex Offender Charged: JPD

JOLIET — Matthew Duhon, a 47-year-old convicted child sex offender out of Texas who now makes Joliet's Willow Avenue his home, has been arrested for the second time since July in Will County. Duhon's latest arrest happened early Friday morning on Joliet's west side.

Joliet police say he's back in the Will County Jail facing new charges of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 3:06 a.m. Friday, officers were flagged down near Republic Avenue and Glenwood Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Officers learned that Duhon was in an argument with a woman while near a tent in a wooded area near the 2400 block of Glenwood.

Police said Duhon pushed the woman down and began striking her in the face. According to officials, Duhon then took the victim’s phone so she could not call police. The victim then flagged down a passing officer to report the incident. Duhon was on the scene and placed into custody without incident.

Patch reported that Duhon, a convicted sexual offender out of Texas who is now living in the 400 block of Willow Avenue in Joliet, was arrested by the Will County Forest Preserve Police at the Lake Chaminwood Forest Preserve on West Shepley Road in rural Minooka.

Will County Jail records indicate that Matthew Duhon was kept in the jail from July 5 to 7. The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow filed criminal charges of sexual predator in a public park against the 47-year-old defendant.

Prosecutors say that Duhon is a child sex offender who knowingly was present at the Lake Chaminwood Forest Preserve near Minooka around 3:20 p.m. on July 5. Duhon's arrest was made by the Will County Forest Preserve District police.
