Woman's Cell Phone Broken During Violent Abuser's Attack: JPD
Dionte Reed also had an active Will County arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous charges of DUI, Joliet police advised.

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old resident of Plainfield Kenicott Lane found himself in the Will County Jail for the fourth time since 2021, the latest arrest for Dionte Reed involved allegations that he choked a woman in Joliet last week and broke her cell phone, prompting her to use an old landline to notify Joliet police of her distress, arrest reports show.
Reed was captured and taken to the Will County Jail last Thursday on charges of aggravated domestic battery, interference with the reporting of domestic violence and also an outstanding Will County arrest warrant.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events took place over the lunch hour on March 7:

Officers responded to a house in the 1400 block of Lemorr Avenue for a domestic disturbance.
Officers learned that Reed had attacked the woman. He hit her in the head and on her body and tried to choke her.

Reed also broke the victim’s cell phone; she still managed to call 911 from a landline. Reed ran from the scene of the crime before Joliet police cars arrived.
Officers spotted Reed near Midland Avenue and Campbell Street, and he was taken into custody without any problems. Reed had the one active Will County arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on previous charges of DUI, Joliet police noted.
Reed was let out of the Will County Jail over the weekend, pursuant to the conditions set forth in the SAFE-T-Act, pending his next Will County Courthouse appearance.
