Argo Leader Resigns Amid Investigation Into Spending
Expenses such as "Sextpanthe" got the superintendent in hot water.
SUMMIT, IL – The Argo Community High School board on Thursday unanimously approved an agreement for the superintendent to resign.
Superintendent William Toulios had been on leave for seven months because of thousands of dollars in credit card spending that appeared to be personal.
Members were told that Toulios was not receiving a severance package, but was getting a vacation payout, which state law requires, according to a report in Southwest Regional Publishing.

The pact also features a nondisparagement clause and a letter of reference, the publication reported.
After the meeting, Toulios' photo on the school's website was replaced by Brandon Cotter, who has been serving as interim superintendent.

Patch is requesting the resignation agreement, which is public record under state law.
Toulios was placed on leave three months after Patch's original story on questionable credit card spending. The board said it was investigating.
Some items on Toulios' credit card bills were through apps that hide the nature of expenses. One of those apps is called Epoch.
In late 2023, a listed $20 expense inadvertently included more information than likely was intended – "Sextpanthe." It was unclear what that was for.
Patch left a message for comment Friday morning with the board's president, Jennifer Grenier.
