Armed Robbery, Similar to Crime in La Grange, Reported in La Grange Park

Men with guns reportedly stole money and cell phones both the Friday and Saturday night incidents.

La Grange, IL - La Grange police say an armed robbery that took place Jan. 30 in La Grange Park was “very similar” to an armed robbery reported in La Grange the night before.

In the armed robbery Saturday in La Grange Park, three men approached four juveniles on foot around 8:30 p.m. at the northeast corner of Brewster and Kensington Avenues, according to La Grange police.

The men showed guns and demanded money and cell phones. The juveniles handed over their belongings, including $80 cash, and no one was injured, police reported.

One man is described as 6 feet tall with an athletic build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt or coat and a red hat, according to La Grange Park police. Another man is described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The third man is described as 6 feet tall with a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The three men ran away east toward Brewster Avenue, and the juveniles ran two blocks northeast to the La Grange Park Police Department, where they reported the crime.

The Friday night armed robbery in La Grange took place at Cossitt and Spring Avenues, police reported. Money and cell phones were stolen at gunpoint.

La Grange police ask residents to be vigilant when walking around places that aren’t highly populated. Residents are advised to cross the street if a group of unfamiliar people are approaching. Residents should call 911 when feeling unsafe.

Officers will continue increased patrolling on residential streets, police reported. The Investigations Division is working with La Grange Park on these armed robberies.
