Business Gets Change To La Grange Parking Limit

An increase in tickets is what prompted the change, the village president said.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange officials have acknowledged that parking is an issue on the West End. On Monday, they agreed to a change in the rules.

On sections of Brainard and Arlington Avenues, the Village Board voted to extend the parking time limit to two hours, up from one.

That request came from The Local Workout, a gym at 806 W. Arlington Ave., according to the village.

Because the gym's classes last about an hour, patrons are parking beyond that time, coming in early and leaving a few minutes afterward, Village President Mark Kuchler told the board.

"Our ticketing has gone up, and that's what prompted the request," Kuchler said.

According to a village memo, La Grange re-evaluates parking restrictions based on current needs and uses.

Parking on the West End has long frustrated residents. Among the contributors is nearby Lyons Township High School, which has limited parking for students.
