Car Catches Fire Tuesday Afternoon on Stevenson Near 1st Avenue

The driver was reportedly able to get out of the car safely.

Patch reader Charlie from Darien submitted these photos of a blazing car Tuesday afternoon on the outbound Stevenson Expressway near 1st Avenue.

Charlie said he stopped to make sure the driver was all right and then took these photos while waiting for the fire department to arrive.

Traffic in the outbound lanes appear to have returned to normal.
