Fire in Closed Countryside Restaurant Snuffed in 15 Minutes

The small fire Tuesday was discovered near U.S. 66 and Brainard Avenue.

Pleasantview Fire Protection District personnel were called Tuesday to Joliet Road and Brainard Avenue in Countryside for reports of a problem with a fire alarm in a closed restaurant building.

They found a small fire in the building, and firefighters were able to contain and extinguish it within 15 minutes, according to fire chief John Buckley.

The fire didn’t cause any apparent damage to the building, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Buckley said he would not classify the fire as suspicious.

All lanes of Joliet Road/U.S. 66 and Brainard Avenue in Countryside are open as of 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, after a structure fire in the area caused traffic congestion, according to Countryside police.
