Justice Man Stole More Than $500K Of Store Items: Cops

Authorities said they found the merchandise in several storage units.

JUSTICE, IL – A Justice man was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than $500,000 in merchandise at stores, the attorney general's office said Tuesday.

Mahdi Alhaw, 34, was sentenced on a felony theft charge in Cook County Circuit Court.

"This plea holds this thief accountable while also serving as a warning that my office and our partners in the Organized Retail Crime Task Force will continue to aggressively pursue these offenders," Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in a news release.

During a search of Alhaw's car in 2021, Chicago police recovered items that led the task force to several storage units where officers found stolen merchandise, the attorney general's office said.

The units contained four semitrailers of items, including clothing, electronics, cosmetics, mattresses and pet supplies, authorities said.
