La Grange Mom 'Is Making A Difference' In Her Community
Patch and T-Mobile are partnering to shine a light on awesome moms in the La Grange area. Meet Joanna Lago!

LA GRANGE, IL— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!
Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.
This submission comes from Laura Hoglund who nominated Joanna Lago of La Grange.
What makes your Mom extra special?
Like a mother hen, Joanna Lago gathers her chicks under her wings. A principal who started during the Pandemic at a large elementary school in Cicero, IL, she knows the meaning of protecting and nurturing each teacher, each child, and each family through hard times. When losses were great she held it together creating a meaningful school commemoration, looking out for those families dealing with the worst situations imaginable.
What brings her strength is her own brood, Lorenzo, Lucas and husband Felipe. She can’t exactly fly but does train for and runs marathons. Joanna Lynn Lago is an amazing chick and she gives the word marathon a new meaning. I see all this firsthand because I am her proud mama.
Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?
We hear so much about school safety, immigrant families, and low scores, but here is a Mom on the front lines having success where it matters. She is humble and yet she is making a difference right where she is planted, in Cook County, IL.
Happy Mother's Day to Joanna Lago, and thank you for all you do!
