La Grange Park Man Who Died In Lake Identified

LA GRANGE PARK, IL – Authorities have publicly identified the La Grange Park man who died July 5 on Delavan Lake in Wisconsin.

He was Steven P. Kent, 57, of La Grange Park, according to Delavan police

Police said Kent entered the water from a boat to help a swimmer in distress. While trying to assist, Kent, who was not wearing a life jacket, began to struggle in the water and lost consciousness, police said.

He was brought onto the boat, where bystanders and emergency personnel immediately started lifesaving efforts, according to a police news release. They were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead, police said.

The investigation continues.
