Lyons Township High Picks Top Curriculum Official

She was an equity official in Hinsdale High School District 86.

LA GRANGE, IL – The Lyons Township High School board on Wednesday appointed a new director of curriculum and instruction.

Patrice Payne, associate principal for teaching and learning at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, is set to start July 1.

Payne is replacing the retiring Scott Eggerding. He has been with the school since the early 1990s and was promoted to his current job in 2006.

Payne was hired at Maine East in July 2023. Before that, she was the director of diversity, equity and inclusion at Hinsdale High School District 86 for two years.

In 2005, Payne started her career in education as an English teacher at Thornton Township High School in Harvey.

In 2017, she received her doctor of education in educational administration at the University of Southern California.

After she was appointed Wednesday, Payne told the board that during the interviews, she continuously received confirmation that Lyons Township High was the place for her. And she said she was especially pleased to see students were among the interviewers.
