"He always prioritized his students," a colleague told the school board.

LA GRANGE, IL – A science teacher at Lyons Township High School has died, officials announced at Tuesday's school board meeting.
Teacher Brian Keller, who started in 2007, died after a battle with cancer.
Keller used teaching methods such as field trips to help students understand the connections between the classroom and the real world, said Andrew Johannes, president of the teachers union.

"I personally enjoyed the times that I was able to connect with Brian, and he would share stories from the weekend or about his classroom or most importantly, to catch me up on how his family was doing," Waterman said.
