Man Tries To Entice La Grange Highlands Student: Police
The man was said to be driving a white work van, according to a police news release.

LA GRANGE HIGHLANDS, IL – After school Thursday, a man driving a van tried to entice a La Grange Highlands Middle School student with candy, Countryside police said.
The student was approached by the man near Plainfield and Willow Springs roads, police said in a news release Friday morning. The man was reported to be driving a white Chevrolet or GMC work van, with no markings.
Unharmed, the student was able to run home, quickly reporting the incident to family, police said.

On Friday afternoon, the van was found, and its occupants were interviewed, police said. It had been determined that there was no threat or danger to the community stemming from this incident, police said.
In response to a Patch inquiry, Countryside Police Chief Paul Klimek said the van stopped outside the student's home and offered the candy. The family provided video of the van, he said.

"The occupants of the vehicle were cooperative and provided a full statement about what happened," the chief said in an email.
